Fresh Hyacinth Bouquets, Delivered With a Little Mystery

Hyacinth are the extroverts of the spring garden — tightly packed, fully fragrant, and never subtle about it. Our hyacinth are grown in Oregon and shipped to you in surprise color assortments, with each bouquet featuring one or two colors from the season's harvest: blue, purple, pink, white, yellow, or peach, depending on what's freshest and most vibrant that week.

We know a surprise isn't for everyone, but with hyacinth it's kind of the point — no two orders look quite the same, and every color option is a good one. We can't accommodate specific color requests, but ordering more than once through the season is the closest thing to seeing the full range.

One thing to know before they arrive: hyacinth ship with part of the bulb still attached. That's intentional — it's what keeps them fresh in transit and gives you the longest possible vase life once they're home. A little dirt around the bulb is normal; brush or rinse it off, or just drop the stems into an opaque vase and let it disappear.

Skip the scissors

Don't trim hyacinth stems. It's the opposite of what we tell you to do with almost every other flower, but hyacinth are the exception: trimming can shorten their vase life and release a sap that may irritate skin. Place stems directly into a vase of fresh water, bulb end and all.

About that dirt

Some soil around the bulb is expected — it travels with the flower to help it stay fresh in transit. Gently brush or wash it away, or use an opaque vase to keep it out of sight.

Keeping them fresh

Change the water every 2-3 days and keep your hyacinth in a cool spot, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

The fragrance is real

Hyacinth are naturally, unmistakably scented, and the intensity varies by variety and color. If you're sending flowers to someone sensitive to strong smells, we'd steer you toward a different bouquet.

If you do trim

We don't recommend it, but if you must, wear gardening gloves and wash your hands thoroughly afterward — the sap can irritate skin.
